Product Description

For those who do not know the difference between the main two types of bikes that are available today, there is the mountain bike and the road bike. The road bike has narrower wheels and a lighter frame and it is designed to be streamline and fast. A mountain bike however is the type we will be looking at today and  these bikes are designed to work on much tougher ground.  They have thicker tyres for better grip, and better suspension to cope with all of the bumps they find on the dirt tracks. For todays review we are going to be taking a look at the Merax Finiss Mountain bike and seeing if it is up to the task of tackling the mountains!

So tell me what features it has?

As we already mentioned, mountain bikes are designed to be a bit bigger than road bikes to cope with all of the stresses and strains that going off road can bring. That is no different with the Merax. This bike has a lightweight heat treated aluminum frame which is lightweight, but also plenty strong enough to keep you on the bike! It has 26 inch wheels for an easy ride, and the 80mm suspension fork ensures that even the biggest bumps will be smooth and that you get much better control over your bike on tricky terrain. Other impressive features of the Merax include the Shimano 21 speed Derailleurs and shifters, and these help you work your way up through the gears very easily!

Tell me a little more about the positive points

Easily one of the biggest positives surrounding the Merax is to do with its light weight. This lighter weight means that you will have a greater amount of control over the bike and as a result the chance of having an accident diminishes. A second positive is that this bike is very easy to put together straight out of the box. It should take you no more then an hour from unwrapping to riding it for the first time! The Merax is also very pleasing on the eye which is often tough when looking for a mountain bike.

And the negative points too

As you will see on there are often minor issues with both mountain and road bikes, and unfortunately the Merax is not without its faults. This bike has been known to have a couple of issues with its brakes such as a light rubbing or squealing when you are braking. Not a minor issue but one to take note of. Another problem this bike faces is that the reflector light does not fit on the handlebars, so you will have to go out and purchase a new one of these at a small cost.

What’s the Conclusion?

This is a very good first bike for those who are looking to get into off road cycling. It is easy to set up and even easier to ride when out of the box, and the people at Merax have done a very good job of paying attention to all of the smaller details that other manufacturers often miss.
